H. Paul Davis is an award-winning landscape architect whose environmentally sensitive and gracefully layered landscapes are inspired by the diverse landscape of his native Louisiana and his love of art. Paul’s meaningful designs reflect the collaborative process with his clients that tend to their distinct and complex needs as well as attention to the artistic details, architectural cues and aesthetic features that transform a space into a garden. Paul holds a BLA in landscape architecture from the renowned Louisiana State University School of Landscape Architecture.
For all of his residential and commercial clients, Paul endeavors to work in collaboration with nature to structure designs and gardens that create a sense of space and beauty. His education in fine arts embedded in him an appreciation for the composition that excellent landscape design strives for, believing that the work of designing gardens and outdoor spaces is even more complex and dynamic than traditional art, as it grows and changes with the individuals who occupy the space.

Over the past sixteen years, Paul has helped transform the once declining 84- acre campus into an extensive and highly acclaimed arboretum. It was at American University that Paul began to understand how the environmental component of his work influenced his overall design intent.
It is Paul’s commitment to the environment that has helped transform American University’s once faltering grounds into an arboretum. As a founding member of the American University Arboretum and Gardens, Paul has directed the installation of thousands of trees and shrubs that have been planted over the past 16 years and the Arboretum is known for its extensive collection of woody and herbaceous plant material.
